NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 29, 2000) -- Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. has been asked to provide documents, materials, witnesses, depositions, interviews and data to a wide-ranging group of parties interested in the recent tire recall. These include the United States Senate, the United States House of Representatives, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Multi-State Attorneys General Task Force, and a multitude of plaintiffs lawyers. These requests are often detailed, lengthy and complex.

Bridgestone/Firestone has, and will continue to have, a policy of being open and responsive to these requests. We have been and will continue to work diligently to fulfill these inquiries in a timely and responsible manner with limited staff and limited resources.
