Reselling used tires
under a recall is not only illegal and unethical but, most
importantly, jeopardizes your safety. If a consumer finds
that someone is selling a recalled tire, we strongly recommend
that they contact their local District or State Attorney or
other law enforcement official.
Firestone actively
supports any law enforcement efforts to prevent the resale
of recalled tires as well as efforts to punish those persons
engaged in the sale of recalled tires. Anyone found to be
selling recalled tires can be fined $1,100 per tire, up to
a maximum penalty of $925,000.
Our stores and dealers
will drill or slash the recalled tires to make sure that they
remain off the streets.
