Under Pressure? Bridgestone/Firestone will remind you to check tire pressure!
Tiresafety.com by Bridgestone/Firestone is now available in French and with metric measurements.

Mississauga, On (May 1, 2002) - A friendly reminder is now available to help Canadians remember to check their tire pressure. Now that Tiresafety.com, a consumer web site launched early in 2001 by Bridgestone/Firestone is available in French and with metric measurements, Canadians will have a new tool to access a free monthly e-mail reminder. The web site offers consumers educational tools to understand the important role tires play in vehicle performance and safety. By simply registering on the web site, users are sent monthly email reminders to check the air in their automobiles' tires. The site is also available in English and Spanish.

"This is an ideal time of year for this announcement heading into the busy Summer driving season," said Jerry Priddle, Director, Public Relations & Advertising. "Temperature changes will affect how your tires perform. All Canadians should have the opportunity to benefit from the valuable information on this site."

"Now with French and metric, a larger group of people will be able to use this resource to make them feel more comfortable and secure in their tires and their tire's performance," said Priddle.

"Proper tire inflation is one of the most important elements of vehicle maintenance, yet many drivers forget to check inflation pressure levels," says, Shu Ishibashi, President, North American Consumer Tire Sales Group. "The air pressure in your tires affects rolling resistance and fuel efficiency, tread wear and traction. More importantly, it also affects heat build up, which can lead to deterioration, premature wear and ultimately the failure of a tire. Hopefully this free e-mail reminder will change this habit for many cost-conscious and safety conscious drivers."

Signing up for the service is as simple as a quick visit to the Tiresafety.com Web site. While there, drivers can review a wide array of information pertaining to tires and tire safety. According to Michael Fluck, Internet & Diversity Marketing Manager for Bridgestone/Firestone North American Consumer Tire Sales Group,"the site is user friendly and filled with tips to help drivers make the most of their tires."

"Whether you're an automotive enthusiast with a passion for performance or a casual driver with less interest in all things automotive, TireSafety.com can provide valuable information," Fluck said. "TireSafety.com is a resource of useful information we hope will contribute to improved highway safety and save consumers money in both fuel and tire costs."

Tiresafety.com is available on the world wide web through both Firestone.ca and Bridgestone.ca. It can be accessed directly at www.tiresafety.com or www.securitedespneus.com.
